The IT Congress provides a venue to update students with the latest trends in Information Technology, and one of the highlight of this event is the Inter-School competition which includes the IT Quiz Bowl, Web Page Design, and Digital Arts Contest.

Clark Antiquiera, a Fourth Year Information Technology Student was declared as Champion in Web Design Contest, while Renald Jay Fio, also a Fourth Year Info. Tech. student won 2nd Place in Digital Arts Contest. The contestants in the IT Quiz Bowl Contest were Daisy Rhey Sealongo and Mike Argueza but didn’t make it to the final round. The students were coached by their IT Faculty Ramil G. Lumauag.  Last year, during the 12th PSITS-WV IT Congress, Clark Anitiquiera won also 3rd Place in Web Design Contest.

This is another achievement for the Information Technology Program of SIPC-WVCST. Congratulations and keep up the good work!

Part II

Dance… Dance… Dance…

The PAMMFM members  were in a Medical Mission and one of their itineraries was to visit SIPC. They toured around the campus and Mrs. Sofia E. Bole the Administrative Director of the Rosemar Techaide Foundation who is the donor of computer units in SIPC showcased the Information Technology department as a product of their continuous support to the program.

A welcome program was held together with a luncheon program sponsored by the Information Technology Department. Dr. Raul F. Muyong, the Campus Administrator delivered a welcome message. Mrs. Sofia E. Bole and Mr. Richard Bole also delivered their message. They encourage the members of the PAMMFM to also extend support to their Alma Mater in their respective places.

The E Books, E Book Reader, and Laptops will be placed in the College Library to provide digital resources to the students.

Mr. Richard Bole personally orients the Information Technology Instructors on how to use the devices so that it will be implemented and be made available to the students.

Posthumous awards for the late Edwin Napuli, Asst. Professor I and Osmalic Sarsua, Sr., Security Guard were received by Mrs. Jocelyn Napuli and Mrs. Helena Sarsua respectively.

Dr. Resurreccion is one of the pillars in the Commission on Higher Education. She finished her Doctor of Philosophy major in Development Education from the University of Santo Tomas, Manila in March 1991 with a distinction of Meritissimus. Determined to achieve success, she took and passed the Career Executive Service Officer (CESO) examination in 1998.

Her career in the Civil Service commenced when she was first appointed as an Elementary Grades Teacher in 1970-1975. She was then promoted to the various positions in the Department of Education Culture and Sports from 1977 to 1995. In 1995 to 2001, she worked as Director, Office of the Student Services, Commission on Higher Education, Manila. She has been a Regional Director of CHED Regional Office III (Central Luzon); CHED RO Office IV (CALABARZON) and CHED RO II (Cagayan Valley). From June 18, 2009 to November 30, 2009, she was appointed as Special Assistant to the Chairman, Commission on Higher Education. Presently, she is appointed as Regional Director of the Commission on Higher Education Regional Office VI.

She received numerous awards and distinctions. To mention a few, she was a Huwarang Filipino Awardee in the Field of Education given by the Office of the Press Secretary in 2003. In 2006, the Federation for World Peace awarded her the Ambassador for Peace Award.

Dr. Resurreccion is an active member of the various professional organizations. She has also attended numerous national and international trainings, seminars and conferences. As an advocate of quality and excellence, Dr. Resurreccion has done a great difference in the Philippine Higher Education.

In her speech, she encouraged all the stakeholders of the College to continue doing their best in order for SIPC to move forward for quality and excellence in education.

The Secondary Teacher Education Program is awarded Level II Re-accredited Status effective December 1, 2011 to November 30, 2015 while the Information Technology Program is awarded Level I Accredited Status effective December 1, 2011 to November 30, 2014. Both programs got a grand mean of 3.77 with a descriptive rating of Very Good.

The AACCUP Team of Accreditors was composed of Dr. Maria C. Martinez from URS, Over-all Coordinator; Dr. Isabelita S. Bacud from URS, Team Leader for the Secondary Teacher Education Program; Dr. Filipina L. Pagaran from PIT, Team Leader for the Information Technology Program; Dr. Marife N. Daga from LNU; Dr. Estelita D. Calvo from ESSU; Dr. Christine V. Cubillo from BISU; Dr. Elizabeth M. Quimbo from LNU; Dr. Alfredo E. Niones from BISU; Prof. Fe C. Padit from ESSU and Dr. Estrella E. Other winners of this year’s Kasadyahan Regional Cultural Competition are Tribu Mandaragat of San Jose, Antique – 1st runner-up; Hubon Sinulog sang Oracon of Sibunag, Guimaras – 2nd runner-up; Sinadya sa Halaran of Roxas City, Capiz – 3rd runner-up; and Tribu Maragtas of West Visayas State University, Iloilo City – 4th runner up.
As champion, Tribu Salakayan won P125,000 cash prize and trophy. The tribe is also invited to perform in the Aliwan Festival in Manila on April 2012, a gathering of best festivals in the country.

Tribu Salakayan was jointly put up by Miagao National High School (MNHS) and Southern Iloilo Polytechnic College – WVCST Miagao Campus. The performers were composed of students from both schools. The major sponsors were the Municipality of Miagao, Miagao National High School, Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges (PASUC) VI, Western Visayas College of Science & Technology (WVCST), and Southern Iloilo Polytechnic College-WVCST Miagao Campus. Tribu Salakayan was supervised jointly by Dr. Raul F. Muyong, SIPC Campus Administrator and Mrs. Merlita Montenid, Principal II of MNHS. Tribe Choreographers were Mr. Ramon Emmanuel, Jr. of SIPC and Miss Rosemarie Fortaleza of MNHS. The Tribe Leaders were Hon. Julieta N. Flores, Municipal Mayor of Miagao, Dr. Raul F.
