Organization of Materials

To make the library resources and facilities readily accessible to both the faculty and students, the Iloilo Science and Technology University Library adopts the open shelf system.

The shelf location of book is indicated on the upper left-hand corner of each card found in the card catalog cabinet.

In the Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC), the shelf location is indicated in the database.

In the stacks, books are arranged in chronological order based on the DDC. The Dewey Decimal Classification System (DDC) is used in classifying books. It is a classification scheme which divides the human knowledge into ten (10) main classes with further decimal division using a notation of numbers. It was devised by Melvil Dewey.
